Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
