Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
Finally, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
This results in them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Planners groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
